Large Item Cleanup ProgramThe move will save an estimated $105,000 in 2010, helping close a budget shortfall of nearly $8 million.
The money saved will instead be used on the core service of street maintenance.
Although the city will not be offering pick up of large items, there are a number of alternatives available to residents who are seeking to get rid of unwanted items.
Alternatives

Recycling guide - The city also has a comprehensive guide for hard-to-recycle items, including appliances, bathtubs, toilets, furniture and even bicycles. Check out the Hard to Recycle Guide for more information.
Household hazardous waste - Westminster offers residents free home pick-up of household hazardous waste. More information on the Household Hazardous Waste program.
Tree branches - Residents can recycle their tree limbs (less than 8 inches in diameter) on the last Saturday of the month, March through October. More information on the Tree Limb Recycling program.
