The City of Westminster's Department of Parks, Recreation and Libraries offers a wide variety of interesting and diversified activities.

Adult Activities

The City of Westminster Recreation Division offers an adult recreation or leisure class for all interests.  Try you hand at aromatherapy, financial planning, take a guitar lesson, learn how to make your own cheese, enroll in Spanish or Italian language classes, or even try one of our various types of dance classes (ballroom, belly, salsa, swing and tap).  We also offer a year-round TaeKwon-Do program at the MAC and West View Recreation Center.  These classes are designed with our highest priority in mind; you the customer.  All of our instructors are experienced in their field and allow learning to be fun.

Activities at The MAC, 3295 W. 72nd Avenue, are open to adults age 21 and better. The MAC…For Active Adult Lifestyles offers general fitness classes, Pilates, Tai Chi, Qigong, line dance, tap dance, body composition testing, fitness assessments, nutrition counseling and personal fitness trainer sessions for an affordable fee. Adult Enrichment Activities include an art history series, meditation class, beginning bridge, conversational French, health cooking seminars, beginning digital camera class, and a beginning computer series that’s guaranteed to bring you up to speed and enhance your computer literacy.

If it’s trips and outdoor adventures that you are seeking, take a look at The MAC Winter-Spring 2009 Activities Guide! The MAC…For Active Adult Lifestyles, located at 3295 W. 72nd Avenue, provides transportation/tickets to outdoor adventure locations, sporting events, theatre performances, area restaurants and a multitude of local attractions to adults age 21 and better. Travel to the mountains and enjoy the fall leaves, soak in the Hot Sulphur Springs, hear the bugling elk, explore the Santa Fe Art District, attend the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, take in a holiday theatrical performance, or put on your boots for some fall hikes or snowshoe trips! Short stay get-a-ways take you on an overnight trip to explore the wineries of the Front Range or travel to Deadwood, South Dakota! There’s something for active adults of all ages at The MAC!

Programs consist of swimming lessons for guests of all ages, water aerobics, and private one-on-one swimming lessons.  Lifeguard classes are also offered during the Fall and the Spring for those guests who would like to become a trained American Red Cross lifeguard.

Looking for ways to...Embrace your creative side?  Nurture your spirit?  Learn a new skill?  Stimulate your mind?  Meet new people?  Discover the world of fine arts and crafts, and experience the personal growth that's part of the artistic process.   The City of Westminster offers classes and workshops in wide variety of fine art and fine craft mediums.  Enjoy drawing, watercolor, pottery, stained glass, jewelry making, quilting, glass arts, painting, sculpture, wood working and more.  New and seasonal classes are offered on a regular basis as well.  Children's classes provide opportunities to explore, learn and have fun learning while creating their own masterpieces, whether it's in clay, drawing, painting or crafts.  If you're an experienced artist or craftsperson interested in sharing your talents, please contact us for teaching opportunities.  Arts & Crafts Photo Gallery

The City of Westminster offers a wide variety of fitness and wellness opportunities throughout the city. Our classes are designed to provide workouts based on the latest fitness trends and research. We offer dedicated service, individualized attention and the best in exercise equipment. All of our staff are specialized, nationally certified, experienced professionals making your fitness and wellness aspirations their number one priority.

Preschool/Tot Activities

The City of Westminster Recreation Division also offers a vast array of classes for those six months to six years old.  Classes include Tiny Tots and Kinder Kids listened preschool programs, sports and activity based programs, parent/child music classes, computer classes, tumbling,  and even programs for those two and three year olds who are ready to take a class without a parent or guardian.  Our instructors are kid friendly, passionate about teaching and love to see results in those they teach.

Special Events

The City of Westminster is proud to offer an impressive calendar of special events including the Summer Concert Series, 4th of July Celebration, Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, and more.  Our free and low-cost events encourage family participation, stimulate cultural awareness, and enhance the quality of life for Westminster residents and visitors.  No matter what time of year, there is always an event or fun activity for the entire family to enjoy.

Teen and Child Activities

The City of Westminster Recreation Division also offers a vast array of classes for those six-fifteen years old.  Classes include those more academic focused such as Chess, Math, Science and Reading.  We also offer classes to improve the physical fitness and coordination of youth including all genre of dance, including Ballroom, Salsa, Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Fitness, Baton and even Musical Theater classes.  For those of you with special interests, we also offer Drama and Culinary classes.  Finally, we love to support these recreation activities with various seasonal activities including Winter, Spring and Summer day camps.  Come have fun in our one of a kind program.
